Singapore – Sydney

-          in one hour
-          the new Kangaroo Route

The tunnel from Singapore to Sydney
Ernst Frankel and Frank Davidson dream about a transatlantic tunnel. My dream is tunnel from Singapore to Sydney, redefining the way we travel to Oceania.
Today many flights from London to Sydney go through Singapore. But at flight from Singapore to Sydney take almost eight hours. A maglev tunnel could make the same distance in only one hour. A tunnel like this will also be more environmental friendly. A tunnel via Brisbane and Cairns would also take shares for the air traffic. Travels to Jakarta from Sydney, via Singapore, would only take two and a half hours.

JR-Maglev in 581 km/h
Southeast-Asia has one of the fastest growing aviation markets. How I see it, this tunnel would be a smaller economic suicide attempt than at transatlantic tunnel. The tunnel could also be expanded to China via the Philippines, making it an even bigger commercial success.
Maglev is well known in Asia, JR–Maglev and Shanghai Maglev Train are examples on a fast growing environmental friendly transportation market.

Newark Liberty International Airport Expansion

Proposal of the future terminals
May 2, 2010, United Airlines and Continental Airlines announced their merger. Today Continental has a hub at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Many have great expectations for the future United, but what about EWR? I read in some forums that EWR was not expansion able. But I disagree. Here is my vision for a future EWR, capable of housing the world largest airlines carrier. The airport wills also being capable of serving other Star Alliance members, flying to New York. Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines maybe bringing their Airbus A380s. And in the future Virgin Atlantic and/or Air China.

Lufthansa A380 under take-off
What I see:
  • New gates capable for Airbus A380 operations
  • New walk-boarding gates for regional operations
  • Three entrances via the classic 70s terminals
  • Two great terminals, one for international flights, one for domestic flights
  • A new runway at Continentals today maintenance area
  • Three new hangars used as a maintenance center for United
  • Three new hangars for FedEx cargo operations

Welcome!

Welcome to my first ever blog! I want to share my ideas about the future city, and the life we will have in it. How we travel to other cities and how we move inside the city. =)
